Background

The Risk Management Agency (RMA) has received numerous reports that Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs) are instructing insureds that RMA requires damaged production be harvested to be eligible for a crop insurance indemnity.

Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation has expanded the number of counties where certain crops are insurable for the 2021 crop year having an August 31 contract change date. The following attachment, 2021 Expansion of Existing Perennial Crop Programs, lists the expansion by crop, state, and county for this permanent (non-pilot) program.

Action

Approved Insurance Providers should advise producers of the expanded county crop program for the 2021 crop year.

The 2021 CY projected prices shown below are approved for the Yield Protection, Revenue Protection, and Revenue Protection with Harvest Price Exclusion plans of insurance. The 2021 CY volatility factors shown below are approved for the Revenue Protection and Revenue Protection with Harvest Price Exclusion plans of insurance. The projected prices and volatility factors are applicable for the crop, types, and states indicated in the following table. 

Background

Flooding and excessive rainfall in parts of the country have resulted in a significant amount of prevented planting claims under Federal crop insurance. Given these extraordinary weather events and the need for animal feed, flexibility around the use of a cover crop planted on prevented planted acreage for haying, grazing and cutting for silage, haylage and baleage has become necessary.

Background

The Common Crop Insurance Policy, Basic Provisions and Livestock policies state that interest will accrue starting the first day of the month, following issuance of the notice of premium due by the Approved Insurance Provider (AIP), provided that a minimum of 30 days has passed from the premium billing date.
