The 2018 CY volatility factors shown below are approved for the Revenue Protection and Revenue Protection with Harvest Price Exclusion plans of insurance. The projected prices and volatility factors are applicable for the crops, types, practices, sales closing date, and states indicated in the following table.
The Risk Management Agency (RMA) has removed the Prevented Planting +10 Percent Option (PT) for the 2018 and succeeding crop years for all crops with a contract change date on or after November 30, 2017, and for the 2019 and succeeding crop years for all crops with a contract change date prior to November 30, 2017. Previously, there has been an option for policyholders of some crops to increase prevented planting coverage by five or ten percent (+5 percent option and +10 percent option, respectively).
Section 522(c)(1) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act (Act) allows the Risk Management Agency (RMA) to conduct activities or enter into contracts to carry out research and development for underserved agricultural commodities, including specialty crops. Section 522(c)(2)(B) of the Act requires RMA to consult with groups representing producers of the agricultural commodity that would be served by a policy that resulted from this research and development effort, prior to beginning any work, in order to determine the interest level or concerns of producers.
