Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors approved a new Macadamia Tree Crop Insurance Program (19-MT) and Comprehensive Tree Value (CTV) Endorsement (19-MT-A) submitted under section 508(h) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act in May 2018. To avoid the redundancy of administering two policies with generally similar coverage, the Risk Management Agency (RMA) will not offer the existing Macadamia Tree Crop Provisions (16-0024) for the 2019 crop year.

Background

The Hawaii Tropical Fruit and Tree Crop Insurance Programs have been piloted to determine acceptance by producers as effective and affordable risk management tools and to assure the programs are actuarially sound. The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors (Board) granted approval for the conversion of these programs from pilot to permanent status based on the favorable pilot program experience.

Background

Hurricane Michael caused catastrophic damage in many counties in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The Risk Management Agency (RMA), in conjunction with Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs), recognize the need for authorizing emergency procedures that will streamline certain loss determinations on specific crops, accelerating the adjustment of losses and issuance of indemnity payments to crop insurance policyholders in impacted areas.

Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors approved the Actual Production History (APH) Caneberry Pilot Program on May 24, 2018. This insurance program protects against production losses for fresh raspberry varieties. It is available for the 2019 crop year for producers in the following California Counties: Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, and Ventura.
