Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors approved the Hurricane Insurance Protection – Wind Index (HIP-WI) Endorsement, on November 15, 2019. It continues to be available for the 2021 crop year for both Catastrophic (CAT) and additional coverage for Common Crop Insurance Policy Basic Provisions policies, when provided in the actuarial documents, in counties located in the vicinity of the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and Hawaii.

  • 2021 Special Provisions for the 8/31 Filing Date.

Many state and local areas continue to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and may otherwise be unable to meet certain policy requirements due to concerns of spreading COVID-19. Beginning in March, the Risk Management Agency (RMA) began issuing Manager’s Bulletins to provide program flexibilities in response to COVID-19.

Background

The Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 (Farm Bill) enacted on December 20, 2018, includes language in Section 11122 to research ways to reduce paperwork and recordkeeping requirements for direct marketed commodities under the Whole-Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) plan of insurance. As a result, RMA presented several changes to the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors (FCIC Board). In addition, RMA worked with stakeholders to identify other improvements to WFRP not related to the Farm Bill.
