Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors approved the Hurricane Insurance Protection - Wind Index (HIP-WI) Endorsement, on November 15, 2019, for the 2020 crop year. It continues to be available for the 2022 crop year for both Catastrophic (CAT) and additional coverage for Common Crop Insurance Policy Basic Provisions policies, when provided in the actuarial documents, in counties near the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic Ocean, as well as Hawaii.

The following changes are applicable for the 2022 and succeeding crop years:

Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) amended the Area Risk Protection Insurance Basic Provisions (ARPI) and Common Crop Insurance Policy Basic Provisions (CCIP) for the 2022 and succeeding crop years for crops with a contract change date on or after June 30, 2021, and for all other crops, the changes are applicable for the 2023 and succeeding crop years, with the following changes:

Background

The 2022 Appendix III to the Standard Reinsurance Agreement and the Livestock Price Reinsurance Agreement (Appendix III) has been updated with approved modifications. Appendix III is available electronically via the Risk Management Agency (RMA) website at www.rma.usda.gov/policy-procedure/appendix-iiim-13-handbook-index under the Appendix III/M-13 directory.

Action

Modifications in the 2022 Appendix III include the following crop insurance program changes:

Background

In accordance with Section 8 of the Rainfall and Vegetation Index Plan Common Policy Basic Provisions, final grid indices and payment calculation factors have been determined and approved for the following:

  • 2021 Crop Year Rainfall Index March – April Index Interval Final Grid Indices for Annual Forage, Apiculture, and Pasture, Rangeland, Forage

Action

By close of business today, final grid indices and payment calculation factors will be available in the Actuarial Information Browser and Actuarial Data Master in the following formats:

Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) amended the Small Grains Crop Provisions for the 2022 and succeeding crop years. These provisions were revised to allow for additional unit divisions for wheat and to make discretionary changes to clarify provisions for counties with spring-planted acreage, fall-planted acreage, or both. A Final Rule with these changes published in the Federal Register on June 25, 2021.
