PM-22-026: Production and Revenue History (PRH) Changes Effective for the 2023 and Succeeding Crop Years

Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) amended the PRH Pilot Plan of Insurance General Provisions for the 2023 and succeeding crop years. The harvest and post-harvest activities definition was revised to provide a consistent accounting and application of those activities.

Action

The PRH Pilot Plan of Insurance General Provisions (23-PRH) will be available by close of business today on the RMA website at www.rma.usda.gov.

PM-22-023: New Unit Division by Grid Option (UDGO) Effective for the 2023 and Succeeding Crop Years

Background

In Georgia, Maine, and Texas, land is not surveyed under the U.S. Public Land Survey System, which is the basis for optional units (OUs) by sections in many parts of the United States. The Risk Management Agency (RMA) worked with stakeholders to develop the Unit Division by Grid Option (UDGO) for Category B crops with additional coverage in these states.

MGR-22-003: 2022 Freeze Damage to Blueberries in Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina

Background

Severe freeze events throughout the Southeastern United States in March 2022 resulted in significant damage to blueberry crops in Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina. According to local agricultural experts, freeze-damaged blueberries require producers to act quickly to spray recommended fungicides to help prevent infection, prune to remove dead and damaged tissue to promote new, healthy growth, and take other recommended steps depending on crop type, variety, and frost protection.

COM-22-002: Risk Management Agency Improper Payments Reviews

Background

The Department of Agriculture (USDA), Risk Management Agency (RMA) is required annually, in accordance with Appendix C of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular No. A-123, Requirements for Effective Estimation and Remediation of Improper Payments dated October 20, 2014, and the Payment Integrity Information Act of 2019, to estimate and report an improper payment rate using a statistically selected, statistically valid sample of policies for the Federal crop insurance program.
