PM-19-028: Hybrid Vegetable Seed Insurance Program

Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors approved the Hybrid Vegetable Seed Insurance Program, a privately developed product that was submitted and approved under section 508(h) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act, on March 27, 2019. This insurance program protects against production losses for Hybrid Carrot Seed. It is available for the 2020 crop year for producers in Crook, Deschutes, Jefferson, and Wasco counties in Oregon and Yakima county in Washington.

MGR-19-011: 2020 Crop Year County Crops Program Expansion

Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation has expanded the number of counties where certain crops are insurable for the 2020 crop year having a April 30th contract change date. The following attachments, 2020 Expansion of Existing Crops Programs, lists the expansion by crop, state, and county for permanently-established (non-pilot) programs.

Action

Approved Insurance Providers should advise producers of the expanded county crop programs for the 2020 crop year.

COM-19-002: Risk Management Agency Improper Payments Reviews

Background

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Risk Management Agency (RMA) is required annually, in accordance with Appendix C of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular No. A-123, Requirements for Effective Estimation and Remediation of Improper Payments dated October 20, 2014, to estimate and report an improper payment rate using a statistically selected, statistically valid sample of policies for the Federal crop insurance program.

The agency is now initiating its review of policies for the 2020 reporting period.
