Subject:

Macadamia Tree Crop Provisions for the 2019 Crop Year
Background

The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation Board of Directors approved a new Macadamia Tree Crop Insurance Program (19-MT) and Comprehensive Tree Value (CTV) Endorsement (19-MT-A) submitted under section 508(h) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act in May 2018. To avoid the redundancy of administering two policies with generally similar coverage, the Risk Management Agency (RMA) will not offer the existing Macadamia Tree Crop Provisions (16-0024) for the 2019 crop year.

Action

Approved Insurance Providers (AIP’s) must notify policyholders currently insured under the Macadamia Tree Crop Provisions (16-0024) that the current crop provisions are no longer applicable for the 2019 crop year and that their policies will be cancelled. Cancellation notices should be sent to all producers participating in this program at least 30 days prior to the cancellation date of December 31. If an AIP accepts an application or fails to timely cancel the current Macadamia Tree policy by December 31, 2018, no reinsurance will be provided.

New policy applications must be written for the new Macadamia Tree Crop Insurance Program, which has a November 30, 2018, sales closing date and will be effective for the 2019 crop year. Policy materials for the new Macadamia Tree program are available on the RMA website at www.rma.usda.gov/Policy-and-Procedure/Crop-Policies.
