RMA Announces Cooperative Agreements for Risk Management Education

Provides Training to America’s Farmers

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19, 2018 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Risk Management Agency (RMA) today announced funding for partner organizations in educating farmers, ranchers, and producers with real-time crop insurance information and risk management tools.

Earlier this year RMA announced $8.89 million for risk management education and training. The organizations being selected today to receive this funding will assist producers, including limited resource, socially disadvantaged and other traditionally underserved farmers and ranchers, in managing risks and challenges in their agricultural operations. The funding also targets training for new producers and military veterans returning to farm and ranch.

“RMA is pleased to provide this type of educational support to farmers and rural America to help mitigate risk,” said RMA Administrator Martin Barbre. “These programs will provide information on Crop Insurance 101, Whole-Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP), and Rainfall Index Insurance.”

For a list of partner organizations by state, please visit the RMA Education and Training webpage.

RMA provides funding for organizations in the form of cooperative agreements to deliver education and training nationwide. This year, RMA award recipients include nine new organizations and two 1890 Land Grant Universities.
