USDA Announces Loss Adjustment for Late Apple Harvest in the Pacific Northwest

Allows Claims to be Settled on a Case-by-Case Basis

SPOKANE, Wash., Nov. 7, 2017 — USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) announced Approved Insurance Providers (AIP) may authorize Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) policyholders in the Pacific Northwest additional time to harvest through November 20 for all apple types, on a case-by-case basis. The harvest extension was approved due to cool spring temperatures that caused late maturity of apples in the Pacific Northwest.

Producers are encouraged to visit their insurance agent to learn details specific to their apple MPCI policy. Additional information can be found within the RMA Manager’s Bulletin. Crop insurance is sold and delivered solely through private crop insurance agents. A list of crop insurance agents is available at all USDA Service Centers and online at the RMA Agent Locator.
