Crop Insurance Resources Available for Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin Producers

Crop Fact Sheets Updated for 2016 Spring Crops

SAINT PAUL, Minn., Feb. 22, 2016 – USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) announced the updated crop fact sheets are now available for all commodities with a March 15 sales closing date for the 2016 crop year in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The fact sheets are available on the St. Paul Regional Office website.

Producers, insurance agents, and insurance company employees are encouraged to use these resources to reference important insurance updates for the 2016 crop year. These crop fact sheets give a summary of the insured crop, causes of loss, the insurance period, reporting requirements, important dates, coverage levels, premium subsidies, prices, unit divisions, insurance plans, a loss example, and contact information. They can be quick and useful tools to gain knowledge about insurable crops. Additional information can be found on the Actuarial Information Browser page on the RMA website.

Crop insurance is sold and delivered solely through private crop insurance agents. A list of crop insurance agents is available at all USDA Service Centers and online at the RMA Agent Locator. Producers can use the RMA Cost Estimator to get a premium amount estimate of their insurance needs online. Learn more about crop insurance and the modern farm safety net at the RMA website.
