Crop Fact Sheets Updated for 2015 Spring Crops
Crop Insurance Resources Available for Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin
SAINT PAUL, Minn., Feb. 6, 2015 – The USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) reminds farmers that updated fact sheets are available for all spring crops insured under the federal crop insurance program in the states of Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Crop insurance provides protection against crop production losses due to natural perils such as drought, hail, and excessive moisture.
The crop fact sheets give a summary of the insured crop, causes of loss, insurance period, reporting requirements, important dates, coverage level, premium subsidies, prices, unit division, insurance plans, a loss example, and contact information. This can be a quick and useful tool for farmers to gain knowledge about an insurable crop. The fact sheets are available on the St. Paul Regional Office website.
Crop insurance is sold and delivered solely through private crop insurance agents. A list of crop insurance agents is available at all USDA Service Centers and online at the RMA Agent Locator. Producers can use the RMA Cost Estimator to get a premium amount estimate of their insurance needs online.
