Organic Premium Price Elections Available by Commodity

RMA continues to expand premium organic price elections to extend the safety net provided by crop insurance and to provide fair and flexible solutions to organic producers. The number of crops with premium organic price elections has increased for the 2017 and 2018 crop years to 73 crops. By increasing the number of crops with organic price elections, more organic producers have the opportunity to obtain higher revenue protection or yield protection policies so they can protect their operations from losses due to severe weather or price declines.

All approved organic price elections, projected prices, and harvest prices (by crop) are available on the Actuarial Information Browser under the ‘Prices’ tab.  Estimated prices based on current market information for revenue policies are available on the Price Discovery Reporting Application.

A price election refers to the amounts contained in the Special Provisions, or in an addendum thereto, that is the value per pound, bushel, ton, carton, or other applicable unit of measure for the purposes of determining premium and indemnity under the policy. A price election is not applicable for crops for which revenue protection is available.
